Programs
Three programs, designed to work together. Whether you prefer self-paced learning, structured slides, or live interaction — we have a path that fits your schedule.
Curriculum
Six step-by-step modules taking you from dispatcher fundamentals to running a full-scale dispatch operation.
You start with the vocabulary and mental model every working dispatcher uses. We walk through the lanes, equipment types, brokers, carriers, and freight terms you will hear on your first phone call, so nothing in the industry sounds foreign by the end of the lesson.
Understanding the equipment matters because mis-matched trucks lose money. You will learn the strengths and limits of dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and box trucks — including when a reefer is required, how flatbed securement works, and why van-only carriers sometimes get filtered out of high-paying lanes.
The walkthrough exercise has you pull three real public rate confirmations, label each field, and calculate the all-in rate after fuel and accessorials so you can read a broker packet the way an experienced dispatcher does.
What you'll learn
Turning dispatch knowledge into a business is the hinge between hobbyist and operator. This module walks you, step by step, through registering an LLC in your state, getting your EIN from the IRS, and opening a dedicated business bank account so brokers can pay you by ACH.
We cover why most successful dispatchers set up a single-member LLC, when an S-corp election starts to make sense, and how to keep clean books from day one so quarterly taxes do not blindside you. Insurance is treated as a foundational decision rather than an afterthought: we explain contingent cargo, non-trucking liability, and general liability in plain English.
The practical exercise has you draft and sign a carrier-dispatcher agreement using the template provided, open a business bank account in your LLC’s name, and produce a one-page operations contact sheet your future carriers and brokers can reference.
What you'll learn
Load boards are where every load you ever book starts, but the defaults are set up for carriers — not for dispatchers who run them at scale. This module compares DAT, Truckstop, and Sylectus feature by feature, shows where each one wins, and teaches you the column layout that lets you scan 200 loads in two minutes.
You will learn the dispatcher’s lens for evaluating loads: rate per mile after deadhead, weight breaks that trigger re-quotes, broker credit signals, and lane seasonality. We break down when to chase a high posted rate and when to pass on it because the accessorials are bleeding the margin.
The walkthrough has you run three real searches on DAT — one for a backhaul out of Atlanta, one for a reefer lane into the Northeast, and one for a flatbed move with weekend delivery — and record what you would quote, what you would counter, and what you would walk away from.
What you'll learn
Brokers decide in seconds whether to keep you on the phone. This module is built around the real scripts working dispatchers use to open calls, handle the first rate conversation, and recover from a rejection without burning the relationship.
We cover the rhythm of professional broker communication — when to push on rate, when to accept a posted number, when to ask about the next lane instead of the current one, and how to send a closing email that lands the carrier on a broker's preferred list. Templates are provided for cold outreach, post-call follow-up, and rate re-confirmation.
The practice exercise has you record two phone calls using the provided script library — one cold outreach, one rate renegotiation — then revise them against the rubric. You finish with a personal script library tuned to your voice.
What you'll learn
The day-to-day of dispatching is where most new operators get stuck. This module lays out the daily workflow — morning check-ins, mid-day updates, end-of-day paperwork — and shows you how to keep one to three trucks running on time, every day, without burning yourself out.
We break down route planning around real constraints: bridge heights, restricted states, fuel stops, detention-prone receivers, and FMCSA hours-of-service limits. You learn when a driver is eligible for detention pay, how to file it, and how to prevent it from happening on the next load through smarter dispatch decisions.
The walkthrough has you build a dispatch SOP document for your own operation — check-in templates, ELD exception handling, detention and layover log, and a one-page daily plan you can hand a driver at the start of each shift.
What you'll learn
At one to three trucks, you are the dispatcher. Beyond that, you need a system that does not depend on you answering every phone. This module walks you through the first hire — what to pay, what to outsource, what to keep on your plate — and how to write a scorecard that makes performance reviewable.
We cover the automation stack most dispatchers regret buying first and the stack that actually pays off: load-posting bots, automated check-in texts, factoring onboarding, and CRM workflows. The CRM shortlist — including how to evaluate Samsara, Motive, and Trucking Office integrations — is included so you do not get sold software you will not use.
The capstone exercise walks you through launching a second income stream: a factoring partnership you can refer drivers to, a back-office service for small carriers, or a packet-prep offer for new MCs. You leave the module with a written 90-day scale-up plan and a one-page offer you can take to market.
